Lefty's Barber Shop

This Lefty's barbershop has two a pretty involved neon sign comprised of the "Lefty's" in blue, "Barber Shop" in red, and the barber shop pole. The barber shop pole is one of the symbols used before literacy was common. The symbol referred to the fact that barbers also used to be surgeons as well and would dry the bloody rags on a pole outside the shop, hygienic. Sun Cafe

Sometimes you come upon a neon sign to late. This sign for the Sun Cafe obviously was a neon sign in the past. This unique art deco store front is sadly shortly to be replaced with a restaurant called Funky Garcia's. The Sun Cafe had been a fixture of San Diego for decades. It was family owned and displayed local art on its walls and windows. The proprietors where especially kind to homeless people who often have problems finding places to eat because of the hygiene difficulties inherent in the condition. There is also an entry on the Sun Cafe at Transitional San Diego. The building is located at:

Neon Signs at Los Pancos de Charly Mexican Grill and Cantina

I have never actually eaten here, though I have often heard the Mariachis as I walked by. The blue neon signs en Espanol add a tad of authenticity to the place. Which is just half a block from Sam Goody's in Horton Plaza. The info for Los Panchos is as follows:

Times Arts Tix Kiosk in Hortan Plaza

The Times Arts Tix Kiosk in Horton Plaza sells discount tickets to various performances around San Diego.  In the past the columns were a light blue and Citibank had an automatic tellor in the back.  The neon signs are good condition.  Though a significant number of the incandescent bulbs have burned out. Hustler Hollywood San Diego

The San Diego Hustler Hollywood is located in a plain white building in the Gaslamp Quarter.   It is brightly lit with neon signs.  Mr. Flint ha never been one to skimp on patriotism and from the corners of the marque fly an American flag and POW/MIA flag.   The information for San Diego's Hustler Hollywood is as follows:

The Big "B"

This the "B" from an old sign from the Balboa theater in San Diego. I don't know why but the current sign is incandescent. Daniel my good friend went to see Spring Awakening at the Balboa in San Diego. He gave rave reviews of both the theater which has been recently restored and the play . I have never seen the inside of the theater myself. But I was very pleased to see it restored.
